Queensland, Australia

The wild, up close.

Photography from Queensland, Australia: wildlife, landscapes and the smaller details found somewhere between the two.

My work comes mostly from being out there: walking, driving, exploring and paying attention to what happens to be around. Birds on the roadside, wildlife disappearing into the scrub, flowers growing where nobody planted them, and landscapes caught in the right light.

No elaborate sets. No need for somewhere famous. Just photographs of the places and wildlife I actually encounter.

The work
I photograph what makes me stop.

Most of my photographs begin without much of a plan. I take a camera with me and look for what catches my attention: wildlife, birds, plants, open landscapes, odd details and ordinary places transformed for a moment by light.

I'm drawn to photographs that feel natural rather than perfect. An animal looking back before it disappears. A flower against an empty road. Late light across the bush. Something small that would have been easy to walk straight past.

The subject changes, but the reason for taking the photograph usually doesn't: to hold the way it looked before the moment moved on.

Sizes, shipping & commissions.

Sizes & paper

Most prints are available in A3 (297×420mm) and A2 (420×594mm). Some sizes are limited depending on the image, so check each print's page in the Shop for its exact options. All are printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm, an archival, matte, museum-grade cotton paper made to hold its colour for generations.

Prints ship unframed, flat for A3/A2 and tubed for A1 (where offered), so you can choose your own frame from any standard off-the-shelf size.

Shipping & returns

Signed Editions are packed and posted by hand from Queensland, usually within 3–5 business days. Open Prints ship from an on-demand service with a roughly 5 day turn around.

If a print arrives damaged, contact us within 7 days with a photo and we'll replace it at no cost. Because each piece is made to order, we don't offer change-of-mind returns. If you're unsure on size, ask before you buy.

Commissions

Have a spot on the wall in mind, or want a shoot in a specific location? Email hello@heselwood.au with a rough brief. Commission pricing is quoted individually and depends on location, size, and whether you'd like a signed or open edition made from it.
